McCarthey Family gives $2.5 million for new stadium (April, 2006) In April 2006, the McCarthey family pledged the largest gift ever given to Judge Memorial. The Jane F. McCarthey Charitable Lead Annuity Trust will give $2.5 million to help Judge to build a new stadium, which will include an all-weather field and running track. McCarthey Stadium is the answer to the prayers of Judge athletes and coaches who have never had a good field to call home. In all, ten boys’ and girls’ field sports, involving hundreds of students and their fans, will benefit from the new field and track. McCarthey Stadium will stand as a monument to Judge athletics for decades to come. Purcells give $2 million for a new athletic center (December, 2004) Phil and Anne Purcell and Paul and Patricia Purcell have made lead gifts of $1 million each so that Judge may build an additional, larger gym. The new athletic center will hold three playing courts, a sizeable, modern weight room and two boys’ and two girls’ locker rooms—one set for P.E. classes and one for teams. The new facility will be called the Yerkovich Athletic Center, in honor of longtime Judge Basketball coach, Jim Yerkovich. Sullivan Family gives $1 million for a new library (November, 2004) The Sullivan family of Reno, Nevada, has pledged $1 million towards a new library for Judge Memorial Catholic High School. Skaggs Family Foundation gives $1 million for technology improvements (August, 2004) Trustees of the Boise, Idaho—based Skaggs Family Foundation recently pledged $1 million to Judge Memorial Catholic High School for broad and integrated technology improvements throughout the school. The implementation of technology upgrades will coincide with the building improvements mandated in the school’s capital campaign master plan. The upgrades will include computer and Internet access in every classroom, computer lab renovations, innovative presentation technology for teachers, updated software for all school computers, and thorough research access for students and teachers.
